Management of Preservation Programs was a graduate course at the iSchool focused on how to generate funding for project based efforts. Myself and a peer, completed a needs assessment for the “>Pioneer Museum in Fredericksburg, TX. We analyzed the costs associated with maintaining archival material, as well as what infrastructure is necessary to run this cultural heritage institution. Using this needs assessment, we applied for a grant from the Brown Foundation Inc. on their behalf, to add climate control units to each of the institution’s archival spaces.
This needs assessment was also presented to the board of director’s of the Gillespie County Historical Society, as a way to bridge the gap between the archivists and the donors.
